先日、とある業界の会合で、たまたま隣りの席に座った人が、雑談中に無類のワイン好きだとわかって、「じゃ、今度一緒にワインを飲みましょう。」という流れになりました。
こういう話は、たいてい社交辞令で、実際にまた会うことはほとんどないのですが、不思議なつながりがあって、本日、二人のワイン会が実現しました。
会場はいつもの新宿駅南口のタヴァーン・オン・エス。
美味しいワインと料理に話がはずみ、いろいろな共通点が判明し、大いに盛り上がりました。
ワインの好みも全く同じ。飲みたくないワインが全く同じ。
極めつけは、同じ高校の私が先輩、彼が後輩であることが判明。
まさしく奇遇、ものすごいご縁がありました。
大酒飲み、なのも一緒。
私が持ち込んだチェイス・ザ・グレープ アルバリーニョ、アルザスのピノ・ノワールの2本では足りず、お店のおすすめのシャルロパン・パリゾのブルゴーニュ・ルージュを追加。
まだ足りなくて、最後はグラッパ。
いや、楽しい時間でした。
また飲みましょう！

The other day, at some business meeting, the person who happened to be sitting next to me found out that he was an unrivaled wine lover during a small talk, and I said, “Well, let’s drink wine together next time.”
This kind of story is usually a social rhetoric, and we rarely actually see each other again, but there was a strange connection, and today the two of us had a wine party.
The venue is the usual Tavern on S at the south exit of Shinjuku Station.
We talked about delicious wine and food, and we found out that we had a lot in common, and it was a great excitement.
The taste in wine is exactly the same. The wine we don’t want to drink is exactly the same.
The ultimate was that we graduated in the same high school. I was a senior and he was junior.
It was a coincidence, a great fate.
We are heavy drinkers, it’s the same.
The two bottles of Chase the Grape Albarino and Alsace Pinot Noir that I brought in were not enough, so I added the restaurant’s recommended “Charlopin Parisot Bourgogne Rouge”.
It’s still not enough, and the last one is grappa.
Yes, it was a fun time.
