Joostenberg

Aug. 10

I found an Alcedo at the creek near my home.

I very often saw Alcedo bird last year but I couldn’t find her in this year.

I am happy meeting her again.

1st Joostenberg Chenin Blanc 2019  1450 yen + tax

It is made from 84% Chenin Blanc, 12% Viognier and 4% Roussanne grown in Paarl South Africa by organic farming.

I felt very rich fruits, super elegant acidity and outstandingly fine minerals.

It is a tremendously nice white wine.

So tasty!  So delicious!

2nd Joostenberg Family Blend Red 2017  1450 yen + tax

Joostenberg is a very old family vineyards and winery in South Africa.

The old cellar was built in 1756.

The red is made from 73 % Syrah, 12% Mourvedre, 12% Cinsault, 2% Touriga Nacional and 1% Viognier.

I often asked to Tyrell, who is the owner & winemaker, ” Does 1% Viognier has any meaningful?”

He always answered that it was very important.

Anyway, I felt very elegant fruits, nice acidity, dense tannin and comfortable-long after taste.

It is a full-bodied style red wine but the taste is very elegant.

I tasted it with ice temperature.

So delicious!
