No Wine Day
Mar. 26
I led a winery tour in Yamanashi for Ryoin-Tomonkai, which is an alumni association of Waseda University organized by wine & food business professionals.
By the way from Tokyo to Yamanashi, it snowed on the highway.
At first, we arrived at Kisvin Winery in Enzan.
It is a very special “Garage Winery”.
Mr. Ogihara, the owner & grape grower, and Ms. Mayu Saito, who is the wonemaker, welcomed us.
We saw the small cellar.
It is very small but very well-organized.
Then we visited to several estate vineyards.
They are also very well-organized.
Then we came back to the cellar and tasted Kisvin wines.
All of us were very impressed in the high quality.
Thank you very much for Mayu-san and Ogihara-san.
After Kisvin Winery, we moved to Katsunuma and visited to Haramo Wine.
Mr. Furuya, the owner & winemaker, welcomed us.
He guided us to the old cellar at first.
We saw new and old facilities there.
Mr. Furuya told us, “I want to mix the traditional craftsmanship and modern technology.
Then we moved to the new cellar and saw a lot of bottles matured.
All of the bottles of Haramo wine releases after a long maturing here.
Then we moved to the guest house, which is built 130 years ago, and tasted several bottles of special wines.
Thank you very much for Furuya-san.
We had a nice lunch at Milleprintemps, a very popular wine bar in Katsunuma.
We enjoyed fine local foods with fine local wines, which were produced by the wineries we visited today.
At last, we visited to Marufuji Winery in Katsunuma.
The old guest house was remodeled lately, which is built over 100 years ago.
We enjoyed a very nice atmosphere.
You can see beautiful view of Katunuma from the terrace.
We were guided to the new cellar and the old cellar.
Then we tasted several special wines at the guest house led by Mr. Omura, the owner of the winery.
All of us were impressed in the high quality of Marufuji wine.
It was a very nice wine tour.
We enjoyed a lot.
Thank you very much!
I think I did a very good job.
