The north limit

Jul. 27

Before I went to bed, I was going to watch some old music program a little on YouTube.

But I couldn’t stop watching and found I was in very late night.

It’s dangerous.

1st Gassan Wine Soleil Levant Koshu Sur Lie 2018  2,000 yen + tax

It is made from 100% Koshu grown in Syonai Yamagata.

The area is the north limit of the growing Koshu Grape.

I felt fresh aroma, fine citrus, crisp fruits and good minerals.

The acidity level is higher than Yamanashi Koshu.

I am sure again it is a very fine Koshu wine.

2nd Simokita Wine Pinot Noir Ryo 2018  2,600 yen + tax

It is made from 100% Pinot Noir grown in Shimokita Peninsula, where is the north limit area in main Island of Japan.

The area was my turf 37 years ago when I was a new employee of Mercian Wine.

I couldn’t image that such fine Pinot Noir would be produced there at the old time.

I felt fine aroma, dense fruits, fine red acidity, silky tannin and comfortable mouthfeel.

There were a lot of red & black berries.

I think it is one of the best Pinot Noir wines in Japan.

Delicious!
