Kamakura Winery at the first time

No Wine Day

Jan. 19

I went to Kamakura today.

At first, I visited to the annual Hase-Temple.

I pray every year on New Year’s Day, but this year I was a little late.

However, I was able to visit the quiet precincts in peace.

The plum trees in the temple grounds were already blooming.

After the prayers, I visited Kamakura Winery at the first time, which is very close to Hase-Temple.

This winery opened in 2022.

The owner, Mr. Natsume, cultivated several types of grapes by himself in the estate vineyards, at Sekiya Kamakura and Shichirigahama while working for the company.

Two years ago, he opened a winery here in Hase Kamakura.

In addition to his own grapes, he also purchases grapes from Yamagata, Odawara, and Australia to make wine here.

The egg-shaped fermentation tank is unique.

Last year, I met Mr. Natsume at some wine tasting event, and I wanted to visit the winery as soon as possible, but I couldn’t get the opportunity, and my long-cherished wish finally came true.

In the shop with a cafe, our Relax Wine took up more than half of the space.

How bizarre!

Natsume’s house wine is said to be the Marquis de Beau Rond.

Thank you.

You’re a friend!

Despite visiting without an appointment, I was able to taste the entire current lineup of Kamakura Winery.

And all of them are so delicious!

I felt natural grape flavor and a very pure mouthfeel without any extra build-up.

It is also designed with a low alcohol content of 11% to 12%.

Well, it’s my point.

In particular, the orange wine brewed in Yamagata Delaware has a firm fruitiness, a perfect balance of beautiful acidity and subtle astringency.

The red wine made from Cabernet Franc and Merlot from the estate vineyards was impressive for its high fruit density and smooth mouthfeel.

No, I’m very sorry, Natsume-san.

I didn’t expect the wines at Kamakura Winery to be so good.

After all, in winemaking, the passion and taste for winemaking may be more important than a respectable career.

Thank you, Natsume-san, for my sudden visit today, but for your precious wine.

Thank you for your continued support.

I would like to support you, too.
