Aug. 3
Today, I was invited to the “Hokkaido Sorachi Wine Evening” hosted by the Sorachi General Promotion Bureau and Iwamizawa City Bureau.
The event was held at the hall on the 28th floor of the East Building of the SMBC Head Office in Marunouchi.
This event was realized because SMBC had a connection to support Japan wine, and I also participated as a consultant staff.
Guest winemakers are Taichi Yamazaki of Yamazaki Winery and Ryosuke Kondo of KONDO Vineyard.
They are my old acquaintance wine friends.
But we met for the first time in these several years.
It’s really rare for Mr. Kondo to come to an event outside of Hokkaido.
Wine
YAMZAKI WINERY SPARKLING 2019
KONDO Vineyard konkon Kvevri 2020
KONDO Vineyard Tap Kop Pinot Noir 2020
TAKIZAWA WINERY Pinot Noir 2020
YAMZAKI WINERY Pinot Noir 2021
If you are a fan of Japan wines, they are all so precious that you will sigh.
It’s been several years since I drank Kondo’s wine last time.
Comparing three types of Mikasa’s Pinot Noir is also a luxury.
Among them, I was blown away by the orange wine konkon, which is made by brewing 8 kinds of grape varieties in kvevri and fermented by wild yeast without sulfite additives.
I was surprised at feeling the elegance and beauty unlike any orange wine I’ve ever drunk.
It’s delicious, wonderful!
Mr. Kondo, it’s amazing.
I also drank the 2021 Yamazaki Winery Pinot Noir, which is said to be the best vintage in the Sorachi region, for the first time, and I was surprised by the condenseness and power that the usual Yamazaki Pinot has.
The hors d’oeuvres served to accompany the wine were all made up of Hokkaido gems.
The pairing with the wine was also very tasty and fun.
Commemorative photo with Mr. Kawai and Mr. Mishima of NIKI HILLS Winery in Niki, Hokkaido, who participated as guests.
Well, it was a so valuable experience.
Thank you all.
This event will be held again tomorrow and I will also participate.
Thank you again tomorrow.
