No Wine Day
May 15
I participated in a wine tasting party at Domaine Yamada, Kuratei Winery, in Okagami Kawasaki.
I suppose a very few people know you have a winery in Kawasaki.
The winery is located near my house.
I can visit here only ten minutes on foot from my home.
We tasted the new vintage wines released today.
The party was held at the guest house of the winery which is remodeled by the old warehouse built around 130 yeas old.
Mr. Yamada, who is the owner of the winery, is a local farmer from generation to generation.
He grows not only grape but also many kinds of vegetables and fruits.
He also owns a farmer’s restaurant in Shin-Yurigaoka.
The cellar may be the smallest one in Japan?
In the world?
They harvested about 500kg grapes from the small estate vineyards.
They produced red, white, rose and sparkling wine in 2021.
White : Chardonnay 100%
Rose : Pinot Noir 100%
Red : Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bijou Noir
All of the wine are produced without additives and bottled by non-fining and non-filtered.
The sulfur was added under 60 ppm.
Every wine is very pure and clean.
I felt very natural fruits and beautiful acidity.
The style was not heavy but very fresh, fruity and elegant.
The mouthfeel was very charming.
Tasty! Tasty!
Actually, I didn’t expect their wine so much.
Amazingly, such fine wines were produced near my home.
Unfortunately, their wine are not for sale because of the liquor license restriction.
You can taste the wine at their farmer’s restaurant.
