Aug. 18
We could see the blue sky in Tokyo at the first time in these 7 days.
However, many wine areas in Japan still kept heavy rainy days.
I am worried about the grape growing there.
1st Domaine de Pepouy Colombard-Sauvignon 2019 1100 yen
It is made from Colombard and Sauvignon Blanc grown in Armagnac, South-West France.
It is a very unique and tasty white wine.
The taste is dry and crispy but also fruity and charming.
I felt some sweet flavor like a blueberry.
I also felt fresh citrus and some tropical fruits flavor.
The grapes were picked up midnight to avoid the heat.
Also, the grapes kept from oxidation and macerated by cold temperature.
The style is truly pure and natural.
It has a very high cost performance, too.
2nd Domaine de Pepouy Tannat-Merlot 2018 1100 yen
The red is made from Tannat and Merlot grown in Armagnac, too.
Tannat is a massive grape variety born in South-West France.
It has a dark color, heavy tannin and deep fruits.
The name of Tannat came from tannin, they say.
Before Tannat became dark, heavy and high alcohol wine before.
But some very elegant wines are born from Tannat recently.
Because Tnnat resistance to rain, humid and disease, many wineries in Japan grow Tannat recently.
Anyway, this red wine is also very tasty.
I felt mild tannin, red fruits like a raspberry and black fruits like a prune.
The mouthfeel is very charming and elegant.
The price is very reasonable, I think.
