No Wine Day
Nov. 15
I will be traveling in Hokkaido in these three days.
I woke up 3:00 a.m. and took the first train to Haneda Airport.
I arrived at Shin-Chitose Airport in the morning.
By the way to Yoichi, I picked up Mr. & Mrs. Fujii at Sapporo.
After we arrived at Yoichi, we had very nice seafood lunch.
Then we visited to Domaine Yui, a new winery in Yoichi.
They bought the vineyards two years ago and started the grape growing.
Their own cellar has been built up in this year.
They are producing their own first vintage there.
We came here to taste their first wines.
All of the wine are produced by wild yeasts with no sulfur.
All of the wine are very natural, pure and unique.
Especially, I was impressed in their very nice acidity and minerals.
After the tasting, we saw their vineyards.
Amazing!
They made all seedlings of Pinot Noir themselves.
Also, they don’t use any rootstocks.
I am looking forward to tasting their first Pinot Noir.
Then we visited to the vineyards owned by Mr. Matsumura, who is my old friend.
He is a keen wine connoisseu and collector of super fine wines.
Finally, he bought his own vineyards and started the grape growing himself.
He planted Chardonnay and Pinot Noir two years ago.
Then he bought the next fruit farm in this year.
He will plant more vines there next year.
I came here at the first time.
I was so amazed his new business.
I am really looking forward to tasting his first vintage.
Then we came back to Sapporo and had a nice wine dinner at Susukino.
We enjoyed very nice dishes and super rare Hokkaido wines.
It was a very long and very nice day.
So Good Job!!
