Kobe Wine Chardonnay Harvest

Aug. 22

I wake up very early morning and went to Inji Vineyard of Kobe Wine.

It was a Chardonnay harvest day.

It was the harvest for “Kobe Reserva Project” of Hakutsuru Sake Brewery.

I have been joining this project as a wine consultant since last year.

I sometimes visited to the vineyard and worked there in this year.

However, the harvest is very special.

The grapes last year were very bad because of a very long rain days.

Changing completely compared to last year, the grapes have grown very well because of a long fine days.

There were very beautiful clusters.

The harvest was far easier than last year.

Every volunteer staff looked very happy.

Finally, we got very good grapes.

Then we moved to the winery and checked the estate vineyards.

We have been growing Cabernet Sauvignon there.

The grapes looked very good, too.

The harvest is expected one month later.

Our Chardonnay grapes will be kept with cool temperature in two days.

At the cellar, the winery staff worked hard for the Merlot press.

The grapes of Merlot looked very nice, too.

The winemaker said, “They are the best Merlot in these over ten years.”

I think I did a very good job today.

After the winery work, I went to Kobe Harbor Land and had nice early dinner at some oyster bar.

I enjoyed oyster, shrimp and cold white wine very much.

Finally, I went back to Tokyo by late Shinkansen Train.
