Bellwood Vineyard in Yamagata

Aug. 22

I weeded my garden in the morning.

I did a good job but was very tired.

By the way, Regarding the Cabernet vine in my garden, the first clusters were coloring.

Also, it has a few new flowers.

I don’t know such flowering ever.

Does it cause the abnormal weather?

I had a casual foods dinner, called “Izakaya Menu”.

1st Bellwood Vineyard Collection Classique Koshu 2020  2300 yen

Bellwood is a new-small winery in Kaminoyama Yamagata owned and operated by Mr. Suzuki, who was the chief winemaker of Asahimachi Wine.

It is made from 100% Koshu grown in Yamagata.

Even though the label says “non-filtered”, the color is clear and unclouded.

I felt very pure fruits, fine citrus and nice minerals.

Because Yamagata is the northern limit area of Koshu, it has sharper acidity than other Koshu wines.

It is a very pure Koshu.

I am happy to find good Koshu outside Yamanashi.

2nd Bellwood Vineyard Collection Classique Muscat Bailey-A Rouge 2020  2300 yen

A long name wine!

It is made from 100% Muscat Bailey-A grown in Kaminoyama Yamagata.

It has a typical character of Muscat Bailey-A.

I felt a lot of red fruits taste.

I found huge Mucat Bailey-A grapes.

Grape! Grape! Grape!

This red wine made me feel like I was in a grape kingdom.

The taste is very nice.

Takeda winery, which is located near Bellwood Vineyard, produces fine Muscat Bailey-A without labrusca flavor.

Bellwood Vineyard produces Muscat Bailey-A with good labrusca character.

I suppose Suzuki-san says, “Hey! Everybody! I’m Labrusca!”.

I should give my attention to Bellwood Vineyard.
