Japan Wine

Jan. 2

I watched Hakone Ekiden, a marathon relay race, on TV until afternoon.

Then I went to buy sashimi near supermarket.

Then I took a bath and early started drinking sake and wine.

Well… it’s getting dark…

2nd Sogga Nagano Chardonnay Ordinaire 2014 2270 yen

It made from 100% Chardonnay grown in Takayama Nagano by Mr. Sato father & son.

Some of Chardonnay was fermented in new French oak cask.

I felt very crisp fruits and sharp acidity.

I think it has an outstanding cost performance.

You can drink it light now but you should wait for maturing more, I think.

2nd Yamazaki Pinot Noir 2013 3800 yen

I think this vintage is one of the best Pinot Noir in Yamazaki Winery.

It is very well balanced.

At first, I felt a light touch but gradually big red berries were coming up.

Finally, I felt very rich fruits, elegant acidity and comfortable after taste.

I was sure it is outstanding Japanese Pinot Noir.

I was very happy to taste fine Japanese wines in New Year.
