1st Borges Quinta de Simaens Vinho Verde 2003 1400 yen This is Portugal white wine recommended by Horibe-san. It was made by fine grapes from 100 % single vineyards of Borges winery. I was impressed by very clean firm acid of this wine. It was very good for hot summer day like today. It was also very good for Sea foods Carpaccio. I thought it was typical Portugal that olive oil, sea foods and wine. 2nd Joostenberg Bakermat 2003 2500 yen New arrival I love this ! This is really impressive, the outstanding wine for me. I am sure that Mr.Tyrrel Myburgh, owner & winemaker of Joostenberg (friend of mine), is a genius in winemaking in South Africa. This wine is the successor to the "Joostenberg Flagship 2002". Bakermat, meaning "birth-place" or "cradle", represents the premium blend of the 2003 vintage at Joostenberg. All red vineyards of the winery were carefully assessed and the best ones were chosen for this wine. The blend comprises Merlot (42%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%) and Shiraz (23%). Coffee and black cherry aromas dominate on the nose and follow through to the pallet to infuse with rich plum and fruity raspberry. Slightly firm tannins on the finish suggest that the wine has excellent aging potential. I copied a comment from the winery's web site. |
