This was the basic range of the Chateau. The owner & winemaker Mr.Rodolphe de Pins is friend of mine.
The Chateau is a real castle built at 11 Century, located at the border line between Roman Empire and French Public State.
Now, a lord produce wine himself, it is a one of top Cotes du Rhone wines. I was sure that this basic 1000 yen red was really nice. Very natural, very charming. Syrah 50 %, Cinsaut 20%, Carignan 20% and Mourvedre 10%.
Domaine Saga Pinot Noir 2002 2625 yen
I bought this at the winery shop last month. The winery is located Obuse Nagano Japan. Mr.Soga, owner & winemaker, seemed to have a strong passion for Pinot Noir because he has learned wine making in Burgundy from 1997 to 1998.
I was sure that this Pinot Noir was one of the best Japan's Pinot Noirs. 100 % grapes came from their own vineyards, was grew up with a kind of organic method. Natural yeast fermentation, Non filtered, 17month Maturation in French oak cask.
I thought this was the fruit of his efforts. Unfortunately, this has been already out of stock because of very small production.
