1st Kizan Selection Chardonnay 2001 1800 yen New arrival I have wanted to deal with this small winery in Japan for long time. The winery is operated by only Mr. & Mrs. Tsuchiya using only domestic grapes. It is very small but fabulous. A lot of journalists rate the winery very high in these days. This was the top range white wine of the winery. I thought this was one of top Chardonnays in Japan. I felt very clean flavor first, then I felt a lot of fruits second, the very complex flavor, vanillas, cream, peach, pineapple, mineral etc., came up finally. I was delighted to see such a great wine in Japan. 2nd Kizan Selection Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot 2001 2000 yen New arrival I drunk this red with Philippe and Mike, who are wine professionals, at Sushi Goto last week. Both of them also liked this Japanese red very much. It was not so aggressive wine, not so strong, but it was a really elegant red. I did not know the reason why if I was so attracted by this red. 3rd Rubaiyat Merlot 1997 Private stock I drank up the two bottles so fast. I was afraid if I went on drinking for the third one. But I allowed myself to go on the third because it was the day after a historic two no wine days. This was my special private stock bought at the winery. It was outstanding ! I admired the really wonderful mature. If I tried this with blind, then somebody talked me this was Chateau Talbot 1987, I would believe that. But I found at last this was not Bordeaux but this was really nice matured Japanese wine. It was fabulous ! |
