Jul. 28
I cooked dinner for the two straight days.
It was Temaki-Sushi.
Very, very nice!
1st Okunota Winery Sakurazawa Chardonnay Barrel Fermented 2016 3780 yen
I bought this at the winery.
It is made from 100% Chardonnay grown in the estate vineyards by barrel fermenting.
Then the wine kept in the barrel for six months with Sur Lie method.
At first, I felt a reductive smell.
After I used “decantage”, the smell was gradually disappeared.
Then a super big volume of fruits appeared.
I also felt complex cask nuance, fine acidity and minerals.
I think it is one of the biggest style of Japanese Chardonnay.
Only 2650 bottles produced.
I want to taste this again after long maturing.
2nd Okunota Winery Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 3456 yen
The red is also made from the estate vineyard, Merlot 65% and Cabernet Sauvignon 35%.
It is matured in the cask for 12 months.
I didn’t feel any reductive nuance.
I felt very rich fruits, concentrated structure and silky tannin.
The style was full-bodied but the taste was mild and elegant.
I think it has a big potential for a long mature.
Only 2300 bottles produced.
But it is already out of stock in the winery.
Well, I have one more bottle in my home. Huhuhu..
