New Domaine de Pepouy

Oct. 18

I was going to have a No Wine Day but I couldn’t.

I must cut down on drinking but it is difficult…

1st Domaine de Pepouy Clombard-Sauvignon 2019  1150 yen + tax

We received the new vintage 2019 of this one with the new label.

It is made from 50% Colombard, which is a popular local grape variety, and 50% Sauvignon Blanc grown in Gaillac, South-West France.

I felt a good balance of thick fruits from Colombard and sharp minerals by Sauvignon Blanc.

I was also impressed in the clear acidity.

I was sure again it was a very good white wine.

2nd Domiane de Pepouy Tannat- Merlot 2018  1150 yen + tax

We received this red wine with the new vintage with the new label, too.

Tannat is also a local grape variety in South-West France.

Because the grape is strong for rain, some wineries in Japan started planting Tannat recently.

I felt very dense tannin, which is the grape character of Tannat, and rich fruits from Merlot.

The taste is natural and elegant.

It is a very good local red wine.
