Yamafuji Vineyards & Winery

Dec. 3

No Wine Day

Dec. 4

I have a one day-two night business trip to Toyama.

It is the fourth trip to Toyama in this year but all of them was one-day-trip.

It is the first time to stay there.

After I arrived at Toyama, I had a very nice sushi lunch.

Every sushi in Toyama is great, tremendous!

Then I took a rent-a-car and went to Yamafuji Vineyards & Winery in suburb Toyama city.

I tasted Yamafuji wine several times before and was impressed their natural-elegant taste.

It was the first time I had come here.

I didn’t make any visit appointment but Mrs. Yamafuji kindly guided me to the vineyard and cellar.

The vineyards started in 1927 by her grandfather.

The wine making started in 1929.

The winery is the second oldest cellar in West-Japan.

They produced their wine by 100% Japanese grapes from their estate vineyards and their long relation farmers.

I saw an old cellar, which was very well organized.

They have a lot of old vintages there.

Then I moved to the new cellar built  last year.

The cellar is very clean and very well organized.

Unfortunately, because I drive a car, I couldn’t taste wine today.

However, I could buy several fine wines sold at only the winery.

Thank you very much for Mrs. Yamafuji.

It was a very nice visit!

Then I went back to Toyama City.

I joined to “The Vintage Club Gala Dinner Party” held at Toyama Daiichi Hotel.

I selected the fine wines for the event and explain about these wine episodes to the participants.

Fortunately, my selection got good reputations.

Every dish was so excellent, tremendous!

I took a memorial photo with Mr. Tenda, the chef de cuisine tonight and Mr. Inagaki, the chief blender of Sunshine Whisky, which is a local whisky distillery in Toyama.

Then I moved to the main bar of Hotel.

I drank three glasses of Sunshine Whisky Premium by double.

Dobboon!
