I was invited to a big winemaker’s dinner by Josph Drouhin, one of the top wineries in Burgundy, at Hotel Okura Tokyo “Belle Epoque”.
Mr. Philippe Drouhin, who is the 4th generation of the family and the vineyard manager.
He controls all of the estate vineyards about 80ha.
He gave a great success to the winery because he changed all his vineyards to organic in the late 90’s.
After the change, the quality of Dmaine Drouhin has improved tremendously.
I asked him, “Why you go to the vineyards? I think you can stay at the Domaine as a member of owner family.”
He answered, “Because I love the vineyards.”
Great! I admire him a lot!
At first, I was afraid I could communicate with him by my poor English vocabulary.
However, because he was very kind, I could talk about wine anecdotes a lot.

I admire that Joseph Drouhin produces very high quality wine not only the top class fine wine but also the standard range wine.
I was very impressed in the great quality of Pouilly-Vinzelles’s fine minerals, Brouilly’s elegance and Cote de Beaune’s tremendous fruits.
Of course, the top range wine were outstanding.
All of them were super-ultra-delicious!
Especially, Clos des Mouche Rouge1999 was unbelievably delicious.
The voluptuous flavor made me go to the heaven.
I can say I live in order to taste such kind wine.
It was a dreamlike dinner tonight.
