Dec. 24
For many years, our family had a family event called “Chicken Roasting Day” around the winter solstice in late December.
However, my parents-in-law died, my son moved to Osaka for work, and my wife suffered from an incurable disease, and “Chicken Roasting Day” disappeared.
This year, my son and his wife returned home with my grandson, and it was a busy week. Today is the revival day of the memorable “Roasting Chicken Day”.

The chicken is Hyuga-Dori from Miyazaki. I sprinkled it with salt and let it rest in the refrigerator overnight.

Stuff the chicken’s belly tightly with rosemary, thyme, and peppermint.
120 minutes in the oven at 110 degrees. Let it rest for a while to reduce the heat, and then put it in the oven at 250 degrees for 15 minutes.

It was brilliantly baked.
The appetizer is Tasmanian salmon salad.

There are two types of mashed potatoes: plain and cheese-baked.

The skin was crispy and the meat was moist and juicy, and it was very delicious.

On the Roasting Chicken Day, there is an exchange of gifts.

Some wore reindeer horns, while others wore red hats.

After the meal, we had a cake.
It was a lot of fun to spend ” Roasting Chicken Day ” with a large number of people.

Today’s Wine

1st Grimau Mas Blanc Ancestral NV
It is a natural wine with primary fermentation in the bottle newly prepared by Grimau of Penedes, Spain. I am fascinated by the pure taste that you can’t believe with an anthoral.
Also, I felt very nice fine bubbles.
It is a very fine sparkling wine.
2nd Chase the Grape Sauvignon Blanc 2019
This is the first Chase the Grape that my son prepared in Yarra Valley, Australia.
I felt thick, plump fruits flavor with an elegant mineral feel.
It’s been a long time since I’ve had it, but it’s still delicious.
3rd Future Perfect OOO Pinot Noir 2023
It is a gift from the Australian island of Tasmania.
I felt elegant fruits flavor, seductive acidity, and mild astringency.
Behind the smooth mouthfeel, a ripe Pinot Noir appeared.
This is a very good Pinot Noir.
If I drink it blind, I will definitely say Burgundy.
Is it a Premier Cru from Cotes de Beaune?
On the ” Roasting Chicken Day “, all wines were also a big hit.
