Today is the 64th birthday of daimajo-sama

May. 12

Today is the 64th birthday of daimajo-sama, my wife Tomoko. Until now, we have always gone on trips together on my wife’s birthday, but due to the progression of my wife’s incurable disease called Supranuclear-Palsy, we gave up on this year’s trip.

In fact, since the beginning of this year, she had lost 17 kilograms because she can hardly eat.

For a while, she was able to overcome it with intravenous drips, but there was a limit to that, and at the end of February, on the recommendation of my doctor, she underwent a gastric wax procedure and started supplementing nutrition.

When she was feeling well, she used to take small amounts of fruits and drinks by mouth, but last month she got food stuck in her throat and she was in danger.

From the middle of last month, she gave up eating and drinking.

She can’t drink wine and eat with me on her birthday today.

Still, when she saw the beautiful flowers and read out the congratulatory messages from her friends that I received on LINE, she showed me a happy expression.

A token toast was Chase the Grape, named after our first grandchild.

The tough battle with illness at home care continues, but I would like to continue to do my best together.

Happy Birthday!
