Eel and Merlot is the new normal (?)

Feb. 13

The plumber pointed out that my bath had a risk of water leakage, so I decided to renovate the bath.

The kitchen, washroom, and toilet were renovated three years ago, but only the bath was put on the back burner.

Say goodbye to the bath that you have been accustomed to for 28 years.

The demolition was completed in one day today. Inside, it was like this.

The water supply stopped and there was no water, so I made Unagi-steamed rice for dinner, which is easy to cook.

The commercially available eel sauce is washed off in advance, and the eel is boiled down with red wine-based soy sauce and mirin sauce.

It is the same as boiled Anago.

Mix it with rice cooked with sauce and ginger, steam it lightly, and it’s done.

As always, it’s delicious.

We also prepared plenty of pickles.

1st Belles du Sud Chardonnay 2022

It is a Relax Wine Languedoc Chardonnay developed for the Seven & i Group.

I felt mellow fruits flavor, citrus acidity reminiscent of grapefruit, and moderate minerality.

The pure mouthfeel without any unpleasant taste is a feature unique to Relax Wine.

This is, as always, really delicious.

2nd Marquis de Beau Rond Merlot 2023 1,080 yen

It doesn’t mean anything in particular, but when it comes to eels, I want to pair it with Merlot.

This is because the squishy image of an eel and the sound of the word Merlot make me sympathize.

So, this Merlot, which has a particularly good balance, was perfect for the eel rice.

Eel and Merlot is the new normal pairing in the wine world. (?)
